This Week in Forsyth 🗓

SR 9 in Downtown Cumming
SR 9 Traffic Shift Planned for Oct. 26
Drivers along SR 9 in Forsyth County should prepare for a new traffic pattern beginning Monday, Oct. 26. Georgia DOT announced the shift on Oct. 19 as widening work continues along the corridor. GDOT’s indexed notice confirms the date but does not spell out the exact lane configuration, so motorists should watch for construction signs, pavement markings and any updated guidance as crews put the new pattern in place. The shift is part of the ongoing effort to expand sections of SR 9 from two lanes to four lanes with a raised median and other roadway improvements. One active Forsyth segment near the Fulton County line and McFarland Road includes widening, urban shoulders and related intersection work. Because SR 9 is one of Forsyth’s main north-south routes, even a temporary traffic-pattern change could affect Monday commutes and travel times through the work zone.

House in Kenmore
Kennemore Model Grand Opening Set for Nov. 7
Toll Brothers will hold a model grand opening for Kennemore, its new luxury home community in south Forsyth, on Saturday, Nov. 7 from 12:30 to 3 p.m. The development is already open for sales at 840 Avian Terrace in Alpharetta and includes two collections of large single-family homes on estate-sized lots. The Keystone Collection starts at $1,159,995 with homes ranging from about 3,674 to 4,632 square feet, while the Reserve Collection starts at $1,314,995 and reaches more than 5,000 square feet. Future community amenities are planned to include a clubhouse, pool, playground, pickleball and tennis courts, and walking trails. Kennemore is also within walking distance of Denmark High School and minutes from Halcyon. The project adds another major high-end residential development to south Forsyth’s growing housing market.

Heirloom Development in Cumming
Cumming Advances Major Water and Sewer Capacity Projects
Cumming is moving forward with two major utility projects aimed at expanding water and sewer capacity as development continues across the city. In its October E-News recap, the city confirmed that council approved Lakeshore Engineering’s low proposal to build a 6-million-gallon clear well at the Cumming Potable Water Production Facility, along with a new electrical control building to handle increased power demands. Council also approved UWS, Inc. to construct a new gravity sewer line replacing an existing 8-inch clay pipe running from the Foundry development along Meadow Drive to Castleberry Road. Both projects were originally approved at the Sept. 15 council meeting but remain important development-watch items because they expand or reinforce infrastructure serving areas experiencing continued growth. Council also approved the abandonment of the former Horseshoe Court right-of-way off Ronald Reagan Boulevard, across from Northside Hospital Forsyth.
